Longitude is a US based non-profit organization connecting
international volunteers to worthwhile grassroots leaders in
developing countries. Longitude creates volunteer opportunities
that are meaningful for both the community being served and the
volunteer who is donating their time and money. Longitude
currently has two projects. One is located in Southern India,
working with Dalit (former Untouchable Caste) villagers, and the
second is in Ghana, just
outside Accra, working within the local public and private
schools. The thing that sets Longitude apart from other
international volunteer organizations are the leaders each
volunteer work with once arriving at their placement. In India,
Ravi Kumar, is an inspirational human rights activist unparallel
in passion and commitment. In Ghana, Meshach Bondzie, is an
educator extraordinaire with a caring presence that radiates
through everything he does. The organizations they have started
are small and under funded, but the work they are doing is
incredible because they stretch their resources and energy as
