GLOBAL SERVICE CORPS (GSC)

Now is the perfect time to see the world, give back, make new friends, and have the experiences of a lifetime. Be a part of the Global Service Corps community and help us make a difference in the lives of developing communities in Tanzania, Thailand and Cambodia.

Global Service Corps (GSC) has announced an expansion of its Tanzania international volunteer program in sustainable agriculture, food security and HIV/AIDS nutrition and education as a result of a new contract with Partners for Development and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). This new program is offering exciting new volunteer opportunities in rural areas of Tanzania rarely seen by travelers.

With over 15 years of experience operating overseas volunteer programs in Africa and Southeast Asia for students, active retirees, mid-career professionals and families, GSC’s new partnership successfully leverages its strong reputation and 14 years promoting sustainable agriculture and HIV/AIDS education best practices in East Africa. The new USDA contract will enable GSC Tanzania to expand local organic gardening and rural poultry projects along with NGO partners into a regional program bringing food security to over 2,000 smallholder farmers in Tanzania on both a subsistence and commercial basis.

And if farming or educating in the bush is a little off the beaten path for you, try one of our other urban program options in:

  1. English Education
  2. Orphan Care
  3. Buddhist Immersion
  4. International Health
  5. HIV/AIDS Prevention and Nutrition
  6. Or a combination of community development programs

GSC offers programs in Tanzania, Thailand and Cambodia year-round and for durations of 2 weeks up to one year.

We especially recognize and value the extensive knowledge, maturity and skills of our mature volunteers. We have had many active older volunteers participate in our GSC Volunteer Programs and the most common comment we hear is that they wish their experience had been longer! As a GSC volunteer, opportunities are available to:

  1. Lend your life skills experiences and lessons to challenged youth. Help them make good future decisions by exposing them to lessons such as self-esteem, gender equality, and goal-setting.
  2. Care for orphans and disabled children. Make their year by exposing them to another culture and showing them that people all over the world care for them and that we all matter.
  3. Teach English at orphanages or schools where teacher staff is short and the English knowledge of the staff is very poor. Assisting people in perfecting their English skills opens career doors and promotes cross cultural understanding.

Can’t find the time to join us this year? If not, you can help Global Service Corps make a real impact by contributing to one of our donation causes. Your donation can help ensure that locals have full bellies by helping fund the chicken vaccination project, a home garden for an orphanage, and sack gardens for families affected by HIV/AIDS. You may also contribute donations to provide HIV/AIDS and Health Education to youth.
