International Senior Lawyers Project
The International Senior Lawyers Project recruits highly experienced lawyers to provide pro bono legal services to non-governmental organizations, developing country governments and other institutions in an effort to promote human rights, the rule of law and equitable economic development throughout the world. ISLP volunteers provide the highest caliber legal assistance to clients through:

  • Long term on-site assignments of 1-5 months to mentor, assist and build organizational capacity.
  • Short term overseas trainings and workshops.
  • Expert legal counsel from their desks or law firms on corporate transactional, litigation and legislative matters.
  • Cross-border research and analysis on human rights and other issues.

ISLP looks for volunteer lawyers from all countries and legal systems. French and Spanish language skills are especially helpful for our work in countries like Mali, Haiti, Peru, and Ecuador, but English is used predominantly in most of our African and Southeast Asian projects. Experience in legal areas such as criminal law, litigation, human rights law, commercial law, natural resource law, environmental law, media law and many others are especially welcomed in the work we do with our global partners.
